How We Work
How We Work
When clients have questions, they hear back. When something changes in their situation, their benefits, or the tax code, we talk through what it means. There is no operating at arm's length from the people who trust us with something this important.
Greg and Brian also put a real premium on clarity. Federal benefits, pension elections, TSP distribution strategies, and Social Security timing all involve complexity that can make people feel stuck before they have even started. Every meeting is aimed at leaving you with a plain-language understanding of where you stand and a clear sense of what makes sense to do next.
Why Choose UsAchieving Growth Through Collaboration
A Practice Built Around One Stage of Life
We work almost exclusively with federal employees and individuals approaching retirement. That focus is intentional. The closer you get to retirement, the more specific your questions become, and the more specific your questions become, the more it matters that the person across the table has answered them before. This is a space we have spent decades in, and that depth shows in the conversations we have with clients every day.
Independent, by Design
We are an independent firm, which means no bank affiliation, no insurance company ownership, and no proprietary products to push. There are no quotas influencing what gets recommended here. When we suggest something, it is because it fits your situation, not because it fits a sales target. That independence gives us a wider range of options to work with, and it keeps our focus where it belongs.
Deep Expertise in Federal Benefits
The federal retirement system has its own rules, its own timelines, and its own vocabulary. FERS pensions, Thrift Savings Plan allocations and distributions, Social Security coordination, and survivor benefit elections are not topics we occasionally touch on. They are the core of what we do every day. That level of familiarity means clients are not getting general retirement advice repackaged for a federal audience. They are getting guidance from people who know this system well.
A Straightforward Approach to a Complex Picture
Most people are surprised to learn how much their benefits can do when they work together. Part of what we do is take the time to show clients how their pension, TSP, and other income sources fit together as a whole, not just as separate line items. We also put a real emphasis on education around investing and long-term perspective, because clients who understand what they have and why it is structured the way it is tend to make better decisions and feel more grounded throughout the process.

Owner & AdvisorBrian Callaghan
Before I got into financial services, I spent time in the steel industry. It was good work, but what I kept coming back to was the idea of building something of my own and doing work that made a real difference in people's lives. Twenty-one years ago, I made the move into finance, and I have not looked back.

I have spent nearly three decades helping people plan for and live through retirement, and the part that still gets me is what happens when a plan actually works. Watching a client retire with everything in order, and seeing the relief and satisfaction that comes with that, is what has kept me in this work for as long as I have been doing it.

She is useless as an assistant. She doesn't know Excel and has poor phone manners. She also steals her co-workers lunches. However, she is one of the nicest and sweetest dogs I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. Additionally, she is ridiculously cute.
